New Zealand based carrier group, Air New Zealand has come up with a unique method to boost popularity for its service to Queensland in Australia. The carrier, partnering with Tourism & Events, Queensland has launched a website that recommends user’s destinations in the province based on their facial expressions.
As per a report by Mondo Travel, the company will use facial recognition technology to help holidaymakers who are trying to find a suitable getaway in the Australian province. Users who enter the new website will be given an opportunity to view a video showing various destinations in Queensland.
During the video, the software will monitor various visual cues of the viewer, including movements of face, mouth, and eyes. Based on these expressions, they will create a personalised recommendation of destinations after analysing which part of the footage evoked the most positive response on the viewer.
“From exploring the Noosa Everglades, soaking up the sun in the tropical north, unique dining experiences in Brisbane to some iconic Sunshine Coast road trips, Queensland has a huge variety of activities to suit all travellers. Using facial recognition technology in this way is a first for Air New Zealand and is an exciting way for us to engage with our customers and show them some Queensland experiences that they may not have previously considered,” Annabelle Fowler, Air New Zealand General Manager was quoted saying in the report.
